Welcome to our little corner of the internet…we’re a group of home-edders who organise tuition for £2 a class. We wanted the very best teachers to be teaching our kids at an affordable price. And we think we’ve found them! If you’d like your child to learn, have fun and meet others, have a look at our current timetable:
Tuition that puts your child’s happiness and wellbeing at the centre of everything. No pressure in terms of participating (no need to put camera or mic on for example)
Tuition that’s very high quality. All of the teachers are either very experienced qualified teachers or experts in their area (for example Rosie has a performing arts school, Martin has an MBE for his services to astronomy etc)
Tuition that fits in with your family life. You can join in live (if there’s space) or catch up with the recording. Recordings stay on your dashboard forever and can be downloaded so you can watch them when you have no wifi, when you’re revising etc
I began The £2 Tuition Hub to help families like my own basically! I wanted to help my girls with their learning but 1:1 tuition just wouldn’t work for them. Like for Evie (my eldest), she would find sitting with a tutor very intimidating- she’s autistic and would find the pressure of interacting 1 on 1 too much. Plus school had been very traumatic for her (I wish we’d deregistered her years before if I’m honest!) and for a long time she didn’t want to do anything that resembled ‘work’. We needed something that she could try as when she wanted to! Without any pressure if that makes sense.
Fast forward 18 months and we have our happy daughter back. She’s taking about 5 GCSE/IGCSE classes on the hub and she really enjoys them! She watches the recordings and does them when she feels like it rather than doing them at a set time each week. We haven’t really spoke about the exams yet- if she wants to then we’ll do them over a few years perhaps but knowing that she hasn’t ‘got to’ makes things a lot easier.
I also think the hub helps when I have a ‘am I doing enough?’ panic..I know that they are brilliant teachers who are able to explain things in a much better way than what I would be able to (each one is somebody that I know personally or who has been highly recommended).
The teachers are just one part of the ‘team’ at the hub though. We have Colette and Leigh, 2 home ed mums, who help run everything (I’ll pop their email addresses below if you ever want to ask them anything). Then Angie, Claire and Abbie who moderate the classes. To Hannah and Lydia who run the social pods. And then all the other lovely parents and carers who help out loads and suggest new things etc. I think that’s the most special thing about the hub actually- everyone is so lovely and works really hard to keep the hub a place where the kids can learn, be happy and meet others.
If you want to join us, I’ll pop the 3 most important steps below.
Love Amy 🙂
